Woodwind Wonderland

Be sure you're in San Antonio, Sunday the 27th of July, ready to participate in all the activities on the first day of the Convention. There will be TWO world-class reed players appearing as guest soloists with the Featured Concerts that day!!

Dale Underwood
On Sunday afternoon, from 1:30 PM - 2:30 PM in the Lila Cockrell Theatre the Austin Symphonic Band, under the direction of Richard Floyd will feature saxophone virtuoso Dale Underwood. Acclaimed by the Washington Post as "the Heifez of the alto saxophone," Dale Underwood is internationally recognized as one of the foremost classical saxophonists of our time. Mr. Underwood has toured extensively throughout the world as a featured soloist, performing in every state in the continental United States, Alaska as well as in England, Germany, Belgium, Holland, Sweden, Italy, Cuba, Brazil, Argentina, Russia, Ukraine, Mexico, Canada, Austria, Hungary and for Pope John Paul II at the Vatican.

Eddie Daniels
THEN.... on the same evening from 8:00 PM - 9:30 PM (after the TBA Board of Directors Awards Program) The U.S. Air Force Band of the West, commanded and conducted by Captain Cristina Moore Urrutia will showcase the talents of clarinetist Eddie Daniels, that rarest of rare musicians who is not only equally at home in both jazz and classical music, but excels at both with breathtaking virtuosity. To quote Leonard Bernstein "Eddie Daniels combines elegance and virtuosity in a way that makes me remember Arthur Rubenstein. He is a thoroughly well-bred demon."

Do NOT miss these performances!
