The Blast of Brass ensemble is a professional brass choir whose members consist of the top brass artists in the North Texas region, many of whom are members of the Dallas Opera Orchestra, Dallas Wind Symphony, Casa Manana Orchestra, and several of the top regional orchestras. They are also professors at UNT, Texas A&M University in Commerce, and several of the community colleges in the Dallas and Fort Worth metroplex.
The ensemble was formed in 1998 to be the founding ensemble of the Blast of Brass Summer Brass Conference, which is a music camp for brass students. The purpose of the conference is to expose young musicians to the highest possible standards of brass performance. The camp’s goals are achieved by allowing students to perform and study with several of the finest performers and educators in the brass world.
The Blast of Brass Summer Brass Conference was held on the campus of Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas and 2004 marked our seventh season. Middle school, high school, and college students were invited to attend.
