


Dr. Steve Shoop has been teaching band in the Texas public schools for 21 years. He graduated with a Bachelor of Music Education degree from TCU and received his Masters in the same field from Indiana University. In 2000, he received his Doctoral degree of Philosophy in Music Education from the University of North Texas. During his residency there, he served as Excellence of Teaching Fellow which had him teaching in Krum, Texas public schools and supervising the student teachers at the university.
Currently Dr. Shoop teaches at several summer music camps and has presented clinics at Baylor U, UT at Arlington, Valdosta State University, TCU, Mid-West International Band and Orchestra Clinic and for the TMEA. He has over 30 published compositions and arrangements for the low brass as well as articles in various education journals. In March 2004, Dr. Shoop was awarded a historical research grant by the Harvey Phillips Foundation for the work he is doing documenting the artistic contributors of early tuba and euphonium players.
Dr. Shoop is the primary coordinator for the annual Merry TUBACHRISTMAS concerts in Fort Worth and Dallas, Texas. He holds memberships in a number of professional associations including TMEA, TBA, Phi Beta Mu, and the International Tuba-Euphonium Association.
