Implementing a Chamber Music Program Into Your Performance Based Curriculum

This session will explore the value of chamber music within your performance based curriculum. Scheduling models and repertoire (with instrumental substitutions) will be provided.

Jerry Luckhardt is Associate Director of Bands and conductor of the Symphonic Band, Chamber Winds and Marching Band at the University of Minnesota. Luckhardt is also professor of conducting and coordinates all aspects of the undergraduate conducting curriculum at the University of Minnesota. The scope of Luckhardt's conducting background complements his ensemble accomplishments. He has appeared as a guest conductor and clinician with ensembles around the nation in Europe and Asia. He has earned acclaim from composers such as Michael Colgrass, Shelly Hanson, Libby Larsen, Robert Xavier Rodriguez and Judith Lang Zaimont for performances of their works,

Mr. Luckhardt is also a strong advocate for music with membership in the College Band Directors National Association, Music Educators National Conference, Minnesota Band Directors Association, Phi Beta Lambda, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma. Luckhardt is Conductor and Artistic Director of the Encore Wind Ensemble of Minneapolis and recently named the Conductor of the Medalist Concert Band of Bloomington, Minnesota.

With a wide and varied background, Jerry Luckhardt brings to his current position experiences from some of the finest music programs in the nation. He has been on the faculty at Baylor University, the University of Texas, the University of Michigan, and the University of Minnesota-Duluth. He also has three years of public school teaching experience in Michigan and Missouri.
