


Eddie Green has been dedicated to instrumental pedagogy for over forty years. He has taught at all levels of instrumental ensemble performance, including positions at Western Michigan University and University of Houston, producing many of today's leading music educators.
His bands have performed at numerous music conventions and made significant recordings, most notably the critically acclaimed "The Works of Percy Grainger" with the University of Houston Wind Ensemble.
Mr. Green developed the concepts in this book, collaborating with his colleagues at Lake Highlands High School in Dallas, Texas. They have helped develop many successful bands throughout Texas, as well as the country. His bands have performed at many music conventions and made significant recordings, most notably, the critically acclaimed "The Works of Percy Grainger" with University of Houston Wind Ensemble.
Over the last twenty years, students of Eddie Green have excelled in the field of instrumental music education. They have led their own ensembles to state and national championships. Mr. Green has the distinction of having more former students lead ensembles at the Midwest International Band and Orchestra Convention than any other teacher in the country.
It is Mr. Green's hope that this book will encourage teachers to focus on ensemble fundamentals. The development of these fundamentals will help create many satisfying musical experiences.

John Benzer is the Undergraduate Music Advisor at the University of Houston's Moores School of Music, where he also teaches undergraduate instrument pedagogy and co-teaches band director methods with Tom Bennett. Previously, he taught for twelve years at Griffin Middle School in the Lewisville Independent School District (The Colony, Texas). Mr. Benzer was a 1988 graduate of North Texas State University, earning his Bachelor of Music Education degree. In 2004, Mr. Benzer earned his Master of Applied Music-Conducting degree from the Moores School of Music at the University of Houston. Among his most influential teachers are Tom Bennett, Eddie Green and Marion West.
Mr. Benzer's bands earned many awards and recognitions during his twelve years at Griffin Middle School including receiving the 1997 Sudler Silver Cup, the most prestigious international award recognizing junior high and middle school band programs of outstanding musical excellence. The Griffin Middle School Symphonic Band was twice named the Texas Class CC Middle School Honor Band, both in 1993 and 1997. At the 1995 Texas Bandmasters Association Convention in San Antonio, he was named the "Texas Young Bandmaster of the Year."
An active clinician and adjudicator throughout Texas, Mr. Benzer has directed and coordinated many music camps including The University of Houston Cougar Band Camp. He has presented various clinics at the Midwest International Band and Orchestra Convention, the Texas Music Educators Association Convention and the Texas Bandmasters Association Convention.
