Edward Zamora
Edward Zamora

Edward Zamora did his undergraduate work at Del Mar College in Corpus Christi, The University of Texas at Austin and Pan American University in Edinburg where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree. He received a Master of Science degree from Texas A&I University in Kingsville, and did additional post-graduate work at the University of Houston.

Mr. Zamora has been a successful band director, having directed high school bands and at Bedichek Middle School in Austin, Texas. His bands received 32 consecutive Superior ratings in regional concert competition, and 27 Sweepstakes Awards. In addition, they received many Superior ratings at Six Flags Over Texas and Buccaneer Music Festivals. His 1973 band in Hebbronville was named the AM State Honor Band by the Texas Music Educators Association, and performed at the Association's annual convention in San Antonio.

Mr. Zamora has served in Regional and State capacities including Regional and Band Chairperson. He served on the State Prescribed Music List Committee and on the State Marching Band Advisory Committee. In addition, he has served on TBA, TMEA and TMM committees. He has served as an adjudicator and clinician throughout the state for over 35 years. He is in frequent demand as a band clinician/conductor throughout the state. Last year, he conducted the Oahu 9th grade select band in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Mr. Zamora retired in 1995 after 34 years of teaching. In 1998 he was called upon by the Austin Independent School District to serve as Coordinator of Fine Arts.

Mr. Zamora's affiliations include Texas Bandmasters Association, Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Music Adjudicators Association, National Band Association, Phi Beta MU, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonian. He has been awarded the Leadership and Achievement Award by the Texas Music Educators Association and was named a Teacher of the Year by the Austin Independent School District.
