Every year at the Texas Bandmasters Association Convention, the U. S. Air Force Band of the West hosts an outstanding senior American Composer in a concert of his/her music, usually with him/her guest conducting.

The Heritage! American Composer Series was created in 1993 by Captain Steve Grimo and Lieutenant Danny Varella, Commanders and Conductors of the Air Force Band of the West, to honor our rich musical heritage. The concert series was designed to specifically fulfill these goals:

• Perpetuate and record a significant part of our dynamic American Musical Heritage
• Provide the American public and its educators a live, interactive opportunity to hear the music and meet the people who create it
• Display the musicianship within the United States Air Force music program

TThe U. S. Air Force Band of the West celebrates the continuing partnership between the Texas Bandmasters Association and our men and women in uniform by performing works from the Heritage! American Composer Series during the TBA Convention/Clinic.
